Depending on the types of ISLET CELLS present in the tumors,various hormones can be secreted: GLUCAGON from PANCREATIC ALPHA CELLS; INSULIN from PANCREATIC BETA CELLS; and SOMATOSTATIN from the D CELLS. Most are malignant except the insulin-producing tumors (INSULINOMA).
